A man sustained wounds as landslide blocked Baba Reshi-Gulmarg road in North Kashmir Baramulla district on Monday (April 29).
According to sources, a landslide has happened at Cherdari Baba Reshi road, resulting in the blockade of Baba Reshi-Gulmarg road and an individual has suffered injuires.
The man, who has become victim of Reshi-Gulmarg road landslide has been identified as Zahoor Ahmad Wani, he has been shifted to GMC Baramulla for medical treatment.
Meanwhile efforts are on to clear the road.
On April 27, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Jammu, Prashant Sharma succumbed to his critical head injury, sustained during a road accident on Friday night, who was probing high-profile graft cases in J&K.
On 15 November 2023, 39 people died and 17 more were injured when the driver of a passenger bus lost control and the vehicle plunged into a 300–400 ft (91–122 m) deep gorge in the hilly area of Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir.
The bus, which had registration number JK02CN-6555, was carrying 54 passengers, a driver and a conductor, when it plunged from the Batote-Kishtwar national highway near Trungal-Assar and fell 300–400 feet (91–122 metres) down a gorge. The bus landed on a disused road, 2.5 miles (4 km) from Rajgarh. The bus was over its 38 passenger capacity, which may have contributed to the driver being unable to negotiate the tight turn
As per a report, J&K ranked second across India in the tally of 10,000 vehicle accidents in this period with an average of 900 deaths a year. A total of 4,165 accidents were reported up to August last year. Tragically, 580 individuals (till the end of this year, the number is expected to cross 1,000) lost their lives, and 5,565 others sustained injuries in these incidents. The fatality rate is higher than Delhi, Maharashtra.
