Handwara, April 16 A man lost his life after being struck by lightning during a heavy thunderstorm in the Upper Magam area of Handwara on Wednesday, officials confirmed.
The deceased has been identified as Ab Rasheed Lone, 50, son of Mohd Akbar and a resident of Magam Handwara.
Officials said Lone was working in an orchard when the lightning bolt hit him, resulting in his instant death.
Meanwhile, police have initiated the necessary medico-legal formalities.
