A man, accused of raping a female beggar, was arrested in Nabadwip Dham in the Nadia district of West Bengal. The accused, identified as Rahul Roy, was nabbed by police after relatives of the 60-year-old rape survivor filed a complaint with the authorities.
It has been alleged that the crime was committed on Saturday night at Sribhash Angan Ghat Road when the woman was asleep on an abandoned balcony. The victim is a beggar and homeless, claimed a police source.
On Sunday morning, upon sharing her plight with the local residents, the authorities at Nabadwip Police Station were apprised of the alleged crime and the old woman was taken to the Navadwip State General Hospital for treatment. A hospital source shared that her condition was stable and she was under medical treatment.
