Lok Sabha Elections 2024 (Phase 4) Witness Improved Voter Turnout in Srinagar

The Lok Sabha Elections 2024, Phase 4, in the Srinagar region showcased a significant surge in voter participation, according to the latest update provided by the Election Commission of India (ECI) as of 3 pm.
In a marked improvement from earlier figures, several constituencies in the Srinagar region witnessed a notable increase in voter turnout, reflecting a heightened sense of civic engagement among the electorate.
Central Shalteng constituency recorded a substantial turnout of 20.48 percent, signaling a positive shift in voter participation compared to previous phases. Similarly, Chadoora and Char-e-Shareef constituencies reported encouraging figures of 40.70 percent and 45.09 percent respectively, reflecting a robust turnout from voters in these areas.
Other constituencies such as Ganderbal, Kangan (ST), and Khan Sahib also witnessed a significant uptick in voter participation, with turnout percentages surpassing 35 percent in each constituency.
Despite facing challenges such as inclement weather and security concerns, voters in Pulwama, Rajpora, and Shopian turned out in notable numbers, with turnout percentages ranging from 30 to 37 percent.
The overall voter turnout for the Srinagar region stood at 29.93 percent as of 3 pm, marking a considerable improvement from earlier phases of the elections.
Speaking on the increased voter participation, local authorities expressed satisfaction with the turnout and attributed the improvement to enhanced outreach efforts and public awareness campaigns conducted in the lead-up to the elections.
“We are pleased to see a significant increase in voter turnout in Phase 4 of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024,” remarked a senior official from the Election Commission. “The enthusiastic response from voters reflects their commitment to democracy and their desire to contribute to the electoral process.”
As polling continues throughout the day, authorities remain optimistic about further improvements in voter turnout and urge eligible citizens to exercise their right to vote.
