A pickpocket was caught by locals and handed over to cops at Nowabad police station on Wednesday afternoon and Rs 20,000 was recovered from his possession.
The theft took place in an Udhampur route bus at jewel in which a pickpocket trying to steal a man’s purse in the moving vehicle held by alert locals at Jewel and dragged him to cops.
“As I stood up to leave the bus, the thief stole my money. There are two more burglars with him and they have escaped. I was going to hospital”, the victim man said.
The conductor of the bus caught the pickpocket and prevented the pickpocket from stealing the cash.
