Srinagar, Oct 24: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday directed security agencies to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the soil of Jammu and Kashmir, sources said.Presiding over a high-level Unified Headquarters (UHQ) meeting, Sinha emphasized the necessity of a robust security grid and seamless inter-agency cooperation.
In light of recent terror attacks in the region, LG Sinha addressed top officials from security forces, intelligence agencies, and state administration, calling for a unified approach to enhance security across the Union Territory. Sources revealed that during the UHQ meeting, he instructed officials to strengthen the security grid and improve inter-agency coordination.“He directed the top security brass for a comprehensive strategy for anti-terror operations and tasked them with wiping out terrorists and their local networks who are aiding and abetting terrorism,” sources reported.Heads of all security agencies like Director General of Police JandK Nalin Prabhat, Northern Army Chief M V Suchindera Kumar and GoC 15 Corps General Prashant Srivastava attended the meeting. Also present were ADGP JandK Vijay Kumar, ADGP Jammu Anand Jain, IGP Kashmir VK Birdi and officers of the BSF and Directorate of Intelligence.
Atal Dolo, Minister of Urban Affairs and Minister of Home Affairs also attended.LG Sinha specifically directed security officials to track down those responsible for the recent Gagangir terror attack and bring them to justice.He said that the entire approach of the government is necessary to deal with the menace of terrorism and maintain law and order. According to sources, regular monitoring of key areas is essential to prevent malicious intentions and activities of enemies. Sources also said that LG Sinha has also asked the authorities to act quickly and effectively to eradicate OGW networks and the Narco-terror ecosystem.”Our duty and the most important thing is to ensure security, peace and stability for the common people. Terrorism-free Jammu and Kashmir is our sacred promise.In UHQ meeting, many aspects of security, information sharing and coordination were discussed.
The lieutenant governor ordered all agencies to strengthen their cooperation and ensure real-time information sharing and preparedness for emerging threats.He emphasized the need for preparedness and agility to respond to potential security challenges.The UHQ meeting was chaired by LG Manoj Sinha and was attended by senior officials of the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, military and intelligence agencies.On Wednesday, the LG also conducted a security review in Srinagar in which police and state officials participated.Kashmir has seen a sharp rise in violence in the last four weeks.
On October 20, seven people, including a doctor, were killed and five others injured when unknown assailants opened fire on employees of Apco Infratech in Gagangeer district.This attack was followed by another attack in Tral in which a migrant worker was injured in a terrorist attack. In a separate incident, terrorists attacked an army post in Butapatri area of Gulmarg in north Kashmir.
