Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today called for UT level campaign and active involvement of the society in fight against the drug menace and making Jammu and Kashmir ‘drug-free’.
Addressing ‘JK Youth Conclave 2024’ and launching second season of ‘Inspire GenZ’ and ‘Beats of J&K’ initiatives of Department of Information and Public Relations here, Sinha said Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) and security forces have been acting tough against the drug addiction but the society should also come forward and play its role in curbing the menace.
Calling for drug-free Jammu and Kashmir, the Lieutenant Governor stressed for UT level campaign to ensure that youth don’t become the victims of drugs.
He called for steps for rehabilitation of drug victims and bringing them back to mainstream.
“The youth-led fight against drugs will help in achieving the goal of a ‘drug-free’ J&K. The administration would ensure all the necessary resources and handholding to the youth in their endeavours to serve the society,” Sinha said.
Asserting that almost 65 per cent population of Jammu and Kashmir is youth, he said this demographic dividend is our biggest strength.
He commended the efforts of DIPR for engaging and inspiring the new generation to develop their individual selves.
“Platforms like ‘youth conclave’ will motivate Gen Zers to shape the J-K’s social, cultural and economic landscape and eventually make an impact on different sectors,” he said, congratulating the young achievers from J-K who were honoured for their exemplary contribution in diverse fields.
Asserting that the youth power is the pillar for ‘Viksit J-K’ and ‘Viksit Bharat’, Sinha said the young generation is the driving force of progressive and prosperous India and are creating new path to achieve the vision of “Amrit Kaal”.
