Leh Implements MGNREGA Scheme to Provide Wage Employment to Rural Tibetan Settlements

Executive Councillor for Rural Development Department (RDD), Tashi Namgyal Yakzee chaired a meeting with all stakeholders of the Rural Development Department and representatives from TR Camps to implement the job card under MGNRGA among the Tibetan Settlement of adjoins villages of Leh.

ADDC/ACD Leh, Sonam Nurboo, gave detailed information regarding the MGNREGA Scheme where economically and socially vulnerable sections of people in rural areas of Leh District will be assisted by MGNREGA. He further added that every interested family is issued a job card under this scheme where all eligible members’ names may be incorporated for wage base employment.

EC RDD, Yakzee urged TR Camps people to apply for job cards to the Tibetan people so that they might be provided wage employment, where the eligibility criteria have been kept simple so that the large number of rural TR benefitted from the scheme. The department has already issued guidelines for it. The beneficiaries may ensure 100 days employment he added. It is worth mentioning that this initiative is to help the poor people of rural areas and helps in earning sustainable livelihoods.

He directed the concerned officers to serve the needy people through the fruitful implementation of the scheme with dedication and commitment so that the vulnerable section may be benefitted at the maximum level.

Threadbare of discussions were also held on subsidized schemes. EC, RDD, added that Hill Council Leh, has initiated various subsidised schemes and added that Hill Council aims to provide maximum benefits to all beneficiaries including Tibetan people.

The meeting was attended by ADDC/ACD Leh Sonam Nurboo; DPO Leh, Junaid Amin; officiating CRO Sonam Chudon, and 12 representatives of TR Camps.
