Landslides in Manipur block highway, 500 trucks got struck

Landslides in Manipur: A highway in Manipur has been closed owing to rain and a major landslide, causing food and fuel supply to be disrupted. Heavy rain in Manipur’s Noney district has closed the Imphal-Silchar highway, stranding at least 500 trucks caused by landslides.

On Wednesday, heavy rain caused landslides on the National Highway 37 between Irang and Awangkhul part 2, Khongsang and Awangkhul, and Rangkhui village.

A major landslip rocked a railway construction site in the district last June, killing at least 61 people. The landslip occurred at the Jiribam-Imphal railway line’s Tupul railway yard construction site.
