The Leh Apex Body (LAB) and Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) held a joint meeting here last night and discussed several options to intensify their agitation in support of their demands for Statehood and Sixth Schedule status including possible boycott of upcoming Parliamentary elections.
The meeting, however, is yet to take a final decision. There were reports that the two bodies might consult stakeholders and meet again before taking the call.
Lone Lok Sabha seat in the UT of Ladakh is scheduled to go to polls in fifth phase on May 20. The seat was won by the BJP in 2014 and 2019 elections when Ladakh was part of undivided State of Jammu and Kashmir.
The LAB and KDA leadership discussed series of measures to intensify agitation for grant of Statehood and Sixth Schedule status to Ladakh during two hours long meeting here.
“A decision is expected to be announced shortly,” the insiders said.
However, no official statement was released after the meeting.
