On 02.12.2024, at about 1930 hours, a police party of Police station Kulgam during patrolling at village Kaharwath intercepted a vehicle (Tata mobile) bearing registration number JK18D-4327 for checking. In the meantime, two persons came out of the vehicle and tried to escape from the spot. However, they were chased and apprehended tactfully. After search 250 grams of Poppy Straw like contraband substance filled in a bag was recovered from their possession. On preliminary questioning they disclosed their identity as Mashooq Ahmad Hella S/O Abdul Rashid R/O Batpora kulgam and Shabir Ahmad Mir S/O Ghulam Hassan Mir R/O Okey kulgam. The vehicle used in commission of crime was seized.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR number. 177/2024 under section 8/15, 29 NDPS 132,121 BNS has been registered in Police Station Kulgam and investigation has been taken up.
