District police kulgam is all out against the drugs and is constantly pushing behind the bars its peddlers .
In this regard; Yesterday at about *1530 hours* Police party headed by SHO Kulgam established a checkpoint at *Kaharwat crossing* and intercepted a suspicious person namely; *Javeed Ahmad Rather S/O Abdul Hamid Rather R/O Sungus* who after noticing police party tried to flee from the spot. He was chased by the alert police party and apprehended tactfully. During his personal search, officer present was able to recover *(120 gram of Charas)* like contraband substance from his possession. In this connection, a case FIR No. 44/2023 U/S 8/21 NDPS Act stands registered in *Police Station Kulgam* and further investigation has been initiated.
In an another incident, police party led by *SHO police station Devsar* during patrolling noticed that one person threw a nylon bag after he noticed police party and ran away from the spot. He was chased but he took the advantage of nearby dense orchards and managed to escape. His identity was later ascertained as *Mohammad Ashraf Malik S/O Abdul Rahman Malik R/O Malwan*. On search of the said bag *5KG Ganja* like contraband substance was recovered. In this connection a case FIR No.26/2023 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act stands registered at *Police Station Devsar* and searches are going on to nab the said absconding person.
General public is requested to extend cooperation to police and any information regarding whereabouts of the absconding person may be shared with SHO PS Devsar on *7051510664* and PCR Kulgam on *7889786112* so that the investigation of the case is completed without any delay.
