KL Rahul lauds Virat Kohli, Ishan Kishan for brave batting in 3rd ODI vs Bangladesh: Brilliant to see how they batted

Stand-in skipper KL Rahul was awestruck by Virat Kohli and Ishan Kishan’s knocks in the third and final ODI on Saturday, December 10 against Bangladesh at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Dhaka.

After India lost the early wicket of Shikhar Dhawan, Kishan and Kohli put on 290 runs for the second wicket. Kishan raced to his maiden ODI hundred, after which he went on to score 210 runs off 131 balls with 24 fours and as many as 10 sixes.

The 34-year-old Kohli also scored his 72nd hundred in international cricket and he surpassed the legendary Ricky Ponting. Kishan also broke Chris Gayle’s record of the fastest double hundred in ODI cricket.

Kishan got a chance in place of an injured Rohit Sharma and Rahul praised him for grabbing the opportunity with both hands.

“Brilliant to see how Virat and Ishan batted. The way Kishan started, he was looking aggressive from ball one. He got an opportunity, and grabbed it with both hands. Getting a double hundred in ODIs isn’t done often,” Rahul was quoted as saying in the post-match presentation ceremony.

After India racked up 409 for the loss of eight wickets, bowlers put a lot of pressure on the Bangladesh batters. The Men in Blue bowled the Tigers out for 182 in 34 overs. Shardul Thakur was the standout Indian bowler as he picked up three wickets for 30 runs in five overs.

“The batters were really brave, and we decided to do the same with the ball. There wasn’t much help [from the pitch]. There are a few injury concerns, but that gives opportunities to guys. We’ll try and carry this confidence and momentum into the Tests,” he added.
