Alappuzha police in Kerala arrested a CPI leader in Cherthala after a 14-year-old girl accused him of molestation. The accused, identified as Satheesan, Cherthala South unit committee member and former local secretary of Kurppamkulangara, under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).
According to police, the girl who belongs to a scheduled caste community narrated her ordeal in a counseling session conducted at the school. Both Satheesan and the girl’s family knew each other. Satheesan is also president of the SC community cooperative society.
