Continuing their crackdown on illicit mining the Kathua police on Tuesday confiscated 23 vehicles and fined 12 truck operators for illegal mining in the district.
On the directions of DC Kathua, Dr Rakesh Manhas, DMO Kathua took a major step against illegal miners for taking sand from Kathua to Punjab exceeding the legal limit of mining property. A team of Geology and mining department of district Kathua seized 23 trucks and fined 12 truck drivers for illegal mining yesterday night.
There are 35 trucks against which the mining department authorities took action.
A case has been registered against the accused persons at Kathua police station.
