Kashmiris pay tribute to Iranian President, Foreign Minister, other officials

In Kashmir, rich tributes were on Friday paid to Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and other officials, who tragically lost their lives in an air crash.

Tributes followed the Friday prayers and were marked by peaceful demonstrations across various regions of Kashmir, including Srinagar, Budgam, and Sumbal.

In Srinagar, peaceful demonstrations were observed in several areas including Soura, Zadibal, Hasanabad, HMT, Shalimar, Khanyar, Boulevard, and the interiors of Dal Lake.

The residents gathered in large numbers, expressing their grief and solidarity with the people of Iran.

Budgam also witnessed significant gatherings at Magam and the central Budgam area.

Meanwhile, Sumbal in Bandipora saw locals joining the peaceful demonstrations, holding placards and offering prayers for the departed souls.

A local from Soura, Ali Muhammad, said, “We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of President Ebrahim Raisi and other Iranian officials. They were leaders who stood for justice and peace. Our hearts go out to their families and the people of Iran.”

In Budgam, Fatima Begum, a resident, shared her sentiments and said, “The loss is not just for Iran but for the entire Muslim Ummah. We are here to pay our respects and pray for their souls. May Allah grant them Jannah!”
