Two college-going youths from Kashmir have secured a deal on India’s famous reality show, Shark Tank.
In the recent episode of Shark Tank India 3, Hamaad and Saad Tramboo, aged 18 and 20, showcased their brand of Kashmir willow bats.
The Srinagar-based Tramboo Sports has been manufacturing cricket bats from both English willow and Kashmiri willow.
The duo mentioned that Kashmir Willow is heavier than English Willow, yet they have successfully managed it.
They claimed ownership of the largest manufacturer of Kashmir Willow Bats, using Premium Grade 1 Kashmir Willow to craft their products, ensuring lighter and better-quality cricket bats.
Since its inception in 2021, the duo also claimed that their brand has sold over 20,000 bats, even securing a deal for 1,000 bats in Qatar.
Currently pursuing BBA, the duo sought Rs 30 lakhs for a three per cent equity stake in their business.
Saad and Hamaad emphasized their unique selling proposition: being the only market players crafting Kashmir willow bats at faster and more affordable rates. The Sharks were intrigued, and negotiations began.
The Tramboo brothers received offers from various Sharks.
Two of the Shark Tanks, Vineeta and Anupam, proposed Rs 30 lakhs at 10%, while Ritesh offered the same amount at four per cent.
Aman playfully criticized high equity stakes, eventually offering Rs 30 lakhs at six per cent.
After a brief discussion, Saad and Hamaad struck a joint deal with Aman and Peyush at Rs 30 lakhs for four per cent equity.
The final deal marked success for the Kashmiri entrepreneurs on Shark Tank India 3, airing on Sony LIV.
Saad and Hamaad are grandsons of Kashmir’s poultry industry figure, Nazir Ahmad Tramboo.
