Kashmiri Pandit community in Jammu on Saturday paid tributes to the victims of Nadimarg massacre of the community members.

In 2003, Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists in a Nazi style like killings identified, lined up and killed 24 Kashmiri Pandits at Nadimarg village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Among those killed there were 11 men, 11 women and two children.

“We are paying tributes to the victims of Nadimarg massacre today. In 1990, when separatism was at its peak then majority of the nationalist people left the valley. So many people who lived in this Nadimarg village decided not to leave their land even after the genocide they tolerated separatism, but today on this day of 23rd March when Pakistan got defeated by India, the separatists to pacify their anger went in this village and killed 24 Kashmiri Pandits”.

“We are paying tributes who stood up for India”, he added.

“What happened to the victims of Nadimarg massacre was a barbaric act and we can’t forget them as my relatives were also killed. When we paid homage to them we had tears in eyes and we’re helpless. We have requested so many times to Delhi govt and Supreme court to form a SIT team for Nadimarg, Wandhama, Sangrampura, Chittisinghpura massacres, a relative of one of the victim of Nadimarg massacre said.

“The atrocities happened to us in 1974, 1984, 1990 should also be probed. In 1947 when Kabalis raided J&K the two communities were together but after that our relations spoiled”, he said.

Recalling the Nazi style killing of Nadimarg massacre, he added, “I still remember how one of my relative boy held the wooden log of the tin shed for three hours to save himself from the massacre. This unforgettable tragedy is a black stain on democracy, Kashmiriyat and Kashmiri leadership as this say something else. We told govt many times to establish enquiry committee in this massacre but we have been sidelined by the successive govts”.

Mohan Lal Bhat whose entire family was massacred said that local police deployed in the Nadimarg village helped the terrorists identify the homes of Kashmiri Pandits and worked in tandem with them.
