Residents of Karachi faced a significant cash scarcity in the lead-up to Eid al-Adha, as ATMs depleted their funds. The customers expressed their discontentment with the unavailability of ATM services prior to the Eid festivities.

Affected individuals were quoted as saying, “The ATMs are not functioning prior to Eid. We have visited multiple ATMs since this morning, but they are devoid of cash.”

The report stated that it is common for customers to complain about ATMs not working or running out of cash before Eid. This situation often arises when people withdraw significant amounts of money to purchase sacrificial animals.

Eid al-Adha is scheduled to be celebrated nationwide on June 29. The government has declared a four-day holiday that includes the Day of Arafah on June 28.

“Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, June 28th, 29th, and 30th, 2023, for offices observing a five-day workweek, and Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, June 28th to July 1st, 2023, for offices observing a six-day workweek,”.

The report added that the government had previously approved a three-day holiday for Eid, according to a statement issued by the Cabinet Division.
