The District Administration Pulwama Thursday organized a comprehensive handholding/ orientation workshop to facilitate the training of stakeholders under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).
The program was aimed to familiarize participants with the objectives, implementation strategies, and key components of the Water Quality Monitoring and surveillance and sensitizing the stakeholders about its use and importance.
The program witnessed the participation of various stakeholders, including Engineers, field staff, Lab Staff of PHE Department, members of Pani Samitis, PRIs (Sarpanches), Anaganwari Workers/ Supervisors, Women FTK Members, Women SHG members of NRLM and members from civil society organizations.
The inaugural session was presided over by Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Pulwama, Dr Ab Aziz and attended by Executive Engineer PHE Division Pulwama, Awantipora, PMDP MU JJM Pulwama and other concerned officials.
Speaking on the occasion, the ADDC laid emphasis on the importance of collaborative efforts in successful implementation of the JJM.
ADDC Pulwama reiterated the commitment of the District Administration towards ensuring the success of the JJM. He highlighted the need for active involvement and cooperation of all stakeholders to accomplish the mission’s objectives within the stipulated time frame.
During the orientation program, participants were provided with detailed information and demonstration of the Water Field Testing Kits (FTKs) and also on various aspects such as planning, implementation, operation, and maintenance of water supply systems. It equipped them with the necessary skills and knowledge to ensure sustainable water management practices in rural areas.
Speakers included Experts from Project Management Consultancy (PMC) Mission Directorate JJM, J&K, who on the occasion shared their insights and experiences in the field of water supply and management. The sessions covered a varied range of topics, including water quality testing, water conservation, community participation, financial management, and capacity building.
Interactive session was also held during the program, where participants had the opportunity to clarify their doubts and seek guidance from the experts. The event was well-received, with participants expressing their enthusiasm and dedication towards contributing to the success of the JJM.
The Jal Jeevan Mission, launched by the Government of India, seeks to provide tap water connections to all rural households across the country. As a crucial step towards achieving this goal, the District Administration of Pulwama took the initiative to organize the orientation program to enhance the capacity of stakeholders involved in the implementation of JJM.
Pertinently, the program was coordinated by Coordinator, IEC and other members of DPMU JJM Pulwama and logistic arrangements were ensured by PHE Division Pulwama.
At the culmination of the event, Certificates of Appreciation and Mementos were given to Best Performing Pani Samiti Members, Lab Staff, and Engineering Staff.
