J&K Police an apolitical, impartial force: ADGP Vijay Kumar

Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) J&K Vijay Kumar Wednesday said that Jammu & Kashmir Police is “apolitical” force and works on impartial basis.

Speaking to reporters during his visit to Zadibal Srinagar on Yome-e-Ashura (Muharram 10th), the ADGP Vijay Kumar said like every year J&K Police have established stalls at every place on 10th Muharram for convenience of mourners. “It is a good thing and police has a great role in the society. We have provided security for smooth conduct of 10th Muharram processions across Jammu and Kashmir,” ADGP said.

When asked about DGP RR Swain’s statement who sparked a major controversy by claiming that Kashmir-based political parties were “cultivating terrorist network leaders for electoral gains”, the ADGP responded that “J&K Police is apolitical and impartial force”.

“DGP’s statement may have his personal opinion, otherwise J&K Police is purely apolitical and works impartially,” ADGP added. He paid tributes to martyrs of Karbala at the occasion and urged people to maintain peace, harmony and law & order.
