The J&K regional opposition party leaders Mehbooba Mufti and Farooq Abdullah of the INDIA bloc yesterday joined Congress leader Rahul Gandhi public rally at Shivaji Park and alleged that the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) are manipulated in Indian elections to get the desired results.
Addressing the public gathering at Shivaji Park in Mumbai, National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah, said, “The EVM machine is a thief and it is my request to the voters please check the slip after pressing the vote on the machine that is the same party for whom have you voted or not. We raised our voice to bring back the ballot papers for voting and remove EVMs. I hope when INDIA bloc alliance will win in elections, the use of this voting machine will be stopped and the election commission will be freed to take its own decisions”.
Talking about the reduction in petrol & diesel price, Abdullah said, “They have reduced the price of petrol and diesel, LPG because elections are coming. The people should ask the high cost of mustard oil, vegetables to their women family members. They used to scream that they will remove poverty, have they removed it”.
PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti who was also present on the occasion, said, “The central govt has done nothing and they have asked votes in the name of Pulwama martyrs, about whom former J&K guv Satya Pal Malik has said that the jawans attained martyrdom cause of the negligence of the present govt and still you voted them. I live in J&K and constitution has ended there, you people come here as tourists and see everything is normal but this is not true as in Ladakh people in thousands are protesting and if in Kashmir somebody protests they’re imprisoned”.
“If people don’t vote for India Bloc and if you don’t use your voting power rightly to save the constitution then no one can save you. You have to remember the sacrifices of Rahul Gandhi family”, Mehbooba added.
