02 Feb (GulistanNewsTv): The Government of Jammu & Kashmir, through its Power Development Department has scheduled a high-level meeting on February 5, 2025, at 4:00 P.M. in the Civil Secretariat Jammu. The meeting will address key power sector reforms, notably the privatization of power distribution.
According to the official order No. PDD-Plan/14/2024-05 dated 31.01.2025: “Chief Secretary, J&K has desired to convene a Meeting on 05-02-2025 (Wednesday) at 4:00 P.M. in the Meeting Hall 2nd Floor, Civil Secretariat, Jammu. The agenda of the meeting shall be:
a) Status of implementation of RDSS;
b) Status of implementation of Hydel Projects;
c) Status of Power tariff collection;
d) Status of TBCB projects in the transmission sector;
e) Review of Power Sector reforms;
f) Privatization of Power Distribution; and
g) IoT-based system for monitoring power availability and consumption.”
In response to the planned privatization measures, the J&K Power Employees Coordination Committee (JKPECC) has called for a state-wide protest on February 4, urging all power department employees, including PDL staff to take to the streets and express their concerns over job security and future prospects.
