Srinagar, 02 January (Gulistan News TV): The Government of Jammu & Kashmir has cancelled the high-level meeting originally scheduled for February 5, 2025, at 4:00 P.M. in the Civil Secretariat Jammu.

The meeting was slated to discuss key power sector reforms, including the controversial privatization of power distribution.

The cancellation comes after intense criticism and a state-wide protest call by the Jammu & Kashmir Power Employees Coordination Committee (JKPECC) in response to the proposed privatization plan.

Employees, fearing adverse impacts on job security and livelihoods, had planned to protest on February 4, a day before the meeting.

In light of the mounting opposition from political leaders and various societal groups, the government reversed its decision.

The new cancellation order, issued on February 2, 2025, stated:

“The meeting which was scheduled on 05.02.2025 (Wednesday) at 4:00 PM in the Meeting Hall 2nd Floor, Civil Secretariat, Jammu, under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary, J&K, stands cancelled.”
