J&K Crime Branch Probing 221 ‘Corrupt’ Babus, Politicians

The Crime Branch of Jammu and Kashmir police is investigating as many as 785 cases related to corruption and fraud, 211 among them naming bureaucrats, politicians and police officers in the Union Territory.
This information has been provided by the Crime Branch in response to a right to information (RTI) application filed by senior Journalist and social activist MM Shuja.According to the official figures, the Crime Branch is probing 785 cases registered against politicians and government officials, including bureaucrats and police officers from 2017 to September 2022.
Out of these, Crime Branch Kashmir is investigating 393 cases and Crime Branch Jammu is handling 392 cases, the RTI reveals. It also adds that the special investigation wing has produced challan in 272 cases before the court of the law.In 2017, the Crime Branch disposed off 81 cases, followed by 82 cases in 2018, 79 cases in 2019, 48 cases in 2020, 120 in 2021, and 69 cases in the ongoing year.
