J&K awarded Highest Achiever in Overall Renewable Energy Capacity amongst UTs by MNRE, GoI

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), GoI organised the 4th Global Renewable Energy Investment Meet & Expo (RE-INVEST) from 16-18 September 2024 at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the three days event in presence of Shri Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy and Chief Ministers of few States, Delegates from Australia, Denmark, Germany, Norway, Singapore, Hongkong, USA, UK, Belgium, European Union, Oman, UAE, Secretary MNRE and other dignitaries. The State Governments gave their firm commitments in the form of Shapath-Patras specifying their plans/targets for Renewable Energy sector till 2030. The conference was attended by over 10,000 delegates from across the world and constituted 44 sessions, including a Chief Ministerial Plenary, a CEO Roundtable and several State, Country, and Technical sessions. Apart from this, a special session on Women as Leaders in Accelerating Energy Transition was also held during the event.

The RE-INVEST 2024 aims to highlight India’s significant achievement in the Renewable Energy sector including manufacturing and deployment. India recognizes the importance of building a green sustainable future for the next generation, and at the core of this lies the Prime Minister’s vision of Panchamrit and installing 500 GW of non-fossil power by 2030.

All major Banks, financial Institutions also gave Shapath Patras about their proposed loans/funding in Renewable Energy sector, apart from this the Shapath Patras were also given by Developers, Manufacturers, Private Equity Investors, Top Vendors”.

The Commissioner/Secretary Science & Technology Department J&K, Shri Saurabh Bhagat (IAS), Chief Executive Officer Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA), Dr. P. R. Dhar along with other officers from JAKEDA attended the three days Meet and Expo at Gandhi Nagar Gujarat on behalf of J&K, which had been selected as one of the stakeholders to be recognized during the RE-INVEST.

In its contribution towards India achieving the milestone of 200 GW of Non-Fossil Power Capacity, J&K was awarded Certificates of Recognition in three categories amongst the UTs by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, GoI;

  1. Highest Achiever in Hydro Power Capacity.
  2. Third Highest Achiever in Solar Power Capacity.
  3. Highest Achiever in Overall Renewable Energy Capacity.

 

The event included a two-and-a-half-day conference on Renewable Energy, innovative financing for the RE Sector, Green Hydrogen, future energy choices, capacity building and an exhibition of renewable-related manufacturers, developers, investors and innovators. Apart from the conference, an exhibition by various State Governments including the host state of Gujarat, Public and Private sector companies, Startups etc. was also held during the event. RE-INVEST 2024 is expected to increase investment in the RE sector with the opportunity of a large number of B2B, B2G and G2G meetings through a dedicated B2B digital platform https://re-invest.in/ The Confederation of Indian Industry was the industry partner for RE-INVEST 2024.

 

The RE-INVEST has a strong legacy. The first edition was organized in February 2015 in New Delhi, the second in October 2018 in Delhi NCR, and the third on a virtual platform in November 2020 due to COVID-19 constraints. Each edition of REINVEST saw a large number of  participants, including international attendees.

Today, India is well set on a path to achieve 500 GW of non-fossil Power capacity by 2030. It has emerged as one of the world’s most attractive renewable energy markets and stands 4th globally in the renewable energy installed capacity, providing proactive policy support by boosting manufacturing through the PLI Scheme, allowing 100% Foreign Direct Investment under automatic route, ISTS charges waiver for renewable energy purchases, green energy corridor, VGF for offshore wind projects and financial assistance for hydrogen and electrolyser manufacturing projects. India has launched pathbreaking schemes like PM KUSUM & PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana to benefit farmers and households. India aims to accelerate renewable energy capacity additions in the next few years. RE-INVEST will continue to contribute to these efforts and connect the global investment community with all Indian Renewable Energy stakeholders. The valedictory session of the conference will be chaired by Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankar.
