At least 30 shops, four residential houses and a Jammu and Kashmir bank were gutted in a mysterious blaze in Awooq area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district in the intervening night of Monday-Tuesday.

Sources informed a J&K based news agency that the fire which broke out around 11:00 pm at main Market Awoora gutted at least 30 shops, four residential houses and the JK bank branch Awoora.
Soon after the incident, the authorities pressed fire-tenders into service to douse-off the flames.

Sources said that property worth crores got damaged in the mysterious blaze.

They informed that the maximum of the shops were fully gutted in the blaze while the JK Bank branch Awoora was damaged partially.

According to a local media agency, the residential houses were belonging to Wazir Ahmad Peer, Mohammad Hussain Peer and Gh Ahmad Lone.
Meanwhile, Police have registered a case and have started investigation to ascertain the cause of fire.

Station House of Officer (SHO) Awoora, Asif Iqbal told media, “We have deputed a team to the spot and a case has been registered and we have started the investigation.”

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, G M Dar told media, “The immediate relief of Rs 5000 besides blankets, tents and others eatables were given to the affected families.”
