J&K Congress workers held agitation against Assam CM, BJP
Several J&K Congress workers on Tuesday held agitation against Assam state CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and BJP, after Sarma ordered state police to registered a case against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for “instigating crowd” after the party workers stopped from entering Guwahati during the ongoing Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.
Raising slogan against Assam CM and NDA, one of the agitator said, “There was a time when BJP used to say that Sarma is corrupt, but after joining BJP he has become noble. Yesterday, Rahul Gandhi ji’s yatra was stopped and we condemn this. We are staging a protest against BJP’s dictatorship in the country”.
People stages protest against Smart meter installation in Udhampur
Residents of Ward No.8 in Udhampur district today staged a protest and demanded that smart meters should not be installed in their residences claiming high electricity charges and unscheduled power cuts by the department.
“Our studies suffer due to continuous power outages and we don’t smart meters to be installed in our houses”, said a protesting child.
“We will get extra electricity dues because of smart meters and Udhampur was bereft of electricity yesterday when whole country was watching live telecast of ‘Pran Pratishtha’, a woman ward member added.
Samba police nabbed interstate drug-dealer, recovered 18 kg poppy straw
Samba Police has nabbed an interstate dealer of drugs and recovered poppy straw weighing 18 Kgs during frisking in Mansar area of Samba district.
A police party of Police Post Mansar while performing vehicle checking duty at Mansar ‘naka’, impounded a Gas tanker coming from Kashmir side for its checking. During checking of said vehicle, 18 Kgs of poppy straw was recovered. The drug smuggler was identified as Mohd. Fazal Bhat s/o Mohd. Afzal r/o Dharsakri of Rajouri and contraband along with vehicle was confiscated.
A case FIR No. 25/2024 u/s 8/15/25 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Samba and a probe was taken up.
