Jammu: Accused Land grabber booked under PSA

On the directions of District Magistrate Jammu Sachin Kumar Vaishya, SSP Jammu Vinod Kumar the Jammu police on Thursday (May 2)  have said today that they have booked notorious, accused arrested land grabber Gola Shah  under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA), who was found involved in murder case of Avtar Singh in a land dispute case in Greater Kailash on April 30.

Ravinder Kumar aka Gola Shah along with six others were arrested by the Jammu police in the land dispute which culminated into the murder of Avtar Singh, who had claimed the plot in the Greater Kailash belonged to him over which the episode took place.

Along with Gola Shah, Chowki Officer Puneet Sharma who was found displaying dereliction at the crime scene, when the scuffle was going on between the deceased and goon clique was suspended by the SSP Jammu, Vinod Kumar. The SHO Gangyal was also attached in the case.

Six arrested accused who were nabbed by Jammu police yesterday for Avatar Singh killing were identified as Parshottam Singh, his son Suraj Singh residents of Bari Brahmana, Vikas Singh of Greater Kailash, Sandeep Charak of Sarore, Rajat Jandiyal son of Gola Shah

Avatar Singh son of Balbir Singh resident of Kaluchak was assaulted by a group of people around 6 pm on April 30, when he objected to forcible grabbing of a land plot he had allegedly bought in 2004 by property dealers.

The deceased Avatar Singh was taken to Govt Medical College and Associated Hospital Jammu for treatment, where he breathed his last due to the injuries he received during the scuffle.

The Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act, 1978 (PSA) is a preventive detention law under which a person is taken into custody to prevent them from acting harmfully against “the security of the state or the maintenance of the public order” in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir (now a union territory). Whereas PSA applies only to Jammu and Kashmir, it is very similar to the National Security Act that is used by the central and other state governments of India for preventive detention.
