Jammu, Feb 19:  Jamia Masjid in Srinagar to shine brighter ahead of RamadanThe historic Jamia Masjid in old Srinagar is set to undergo an illumination project, with facade lighting to be completed before the holy month of Ramadan. In addition, ‘special audio-video equipment is being installed in the women’s section of the mosque to improve the prayer experience’.The upgrades come as part of preparations to accommodate the large number of devotees expected during Ramadan that begins on March 1 or 2.The management body of Srinagar’s historic mosque, Anjuman-e-Auqaf held a preliminary meeting in connection with the upcoming holy month of Ramazan, which was chaired by Kashmir’s Chief Cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.The meeting was attended by the members, staff and volunteers of Auqaf Jamia Masjid, a statement issued by the Auqaf said.During the meeting, Mirwaiz stressed the importance of connecting with the Almighty during this blessed month.He highlighted that the Jama Masjid is a place visited by hundreds of thousands of people during every Ramadan, and emphasized the need for all arrangements, especially cleanliness, to be in place.The Chief Cleric also stressed ensuring uninterrupted electricity water supply, smooth management of traffic and other essential facilities and in this regard he asked the Auqaf to take up the issue with the concerned authorities.
