Former law maker from Ganderbal Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar on Friday expressed grief over loss of precious lives due to snow avalanche that hit the Sarbal area close to Nilgrath where Hyderabad-based Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited (MEIL) has been executing work on the Zojila Tunnel yesterday.
In his message Former MLA has prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls and strength to the bereaved families in their hour of grief.
“It is saddening that we have lost precious lives of those associated with a Hyderabad-based Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited (MEIL). Condolences to the bereaved families,” Jabbar said.
Meanwhile the Former MLA Ganderbal Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar has demanded for a high-level inquiry into the death of labourers of Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited after avalanche hit the area and demanded compensation for the next of kin of the victims.
An FIR for alleged death due to negligence should be filed against the Hyderabad-based Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited (MEIL) company, Jabbar demands.
“Why were these labourers allowed to work despite advisories of the administration and MET department, an independent inquiry should be done into the matter, Ishfaq added.”
Sheikh also spoke to the labourers on phone and demands complete evacuation of them to safer places.
It is pertinent to mention here that many labourers were killed after an avalanche hit Sonamarg in Ganderbal district on Thursday. The victims were identified as Sandeep Singh and Bal Krishna, both residents of Kishtwar.
