IPL fans can finally rejoice as the full schedule of the upcoming season of the tournament has been revealed on Friday with the competition starting on 31st March.
The 2023 edition of the IPL will kickstart with defending champions Gujarat Titans taking on Chennai SuperKings at Ahmedabad on the opening day. The competition will commence five days after the inaugural WPL season comes to an end.The new campaign will see 10 teams contest 70 league games over the course of 52 matchdays. The 1000th IPL match will happen during the course of the new season and will be played in Chepauk on 6th May with two of the most successful teams in the history of the competition, CSK and Mumbai Indians, squaring off against each other.
There will be two groups in the league this season with Mumbai Indians, Kolkata KnightRiders, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals and Lucknow SuperGiants in Group A. Group B will see Gujarat Titans alongside Chennai SuperKings, Punjab Kings, SunRisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
The first double-header of the season will be on 1st April with KKR facing PBKS in Mohali and DC locking horns with LSG in Lucknow. Five-time champions Mumbai Indians will start their campaign with a mouth-watering clash against RCB on 2nd April.
