England’s Test captain Ben Stokes on Wednesday said he would give himself enough time to prepare for a one-off Test against Ireland at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. Stokes, therefore, is likely to miss the latter stages of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.
Stokes was bought by Chennai Super Kings for a whopping sum of Rs 16.25 crore in the IPL 2023 auction. The England all-rounder, who has played 43 matches across 5 seasons in the IPL, last played in the cash-rich league in 2021. Stokes suffered a broken finger in the first game of IPL 2021 season for Rajasthan Royals. He needed surgery to treat the injury following which he took a break from competitive cricket that saw him miss the whole of IPL 2022.
