Micromax electric vehicle entry: According to reports, Indian smartphone manufacturer Micromax intends to enter the two-wheeler segment of the electric vehicle (EV) market. As previously said, the Gurugram-based business is currently remodelling one of its offices to begin work on the new project. Vikas Jain, Rajesh Agarwal, and Sumeet Kumar, co-founders of Micromax, formed a corporation with the name “Micromax Mobility,” which alludes to the company’s next endeavour. According to the article, which cites a source, the company director “started discussions and prepared documentation for the mobility business earlier this year.”

On the EV front, it’s unknown if or when Micromax will introduce the product. Not only Micromax, but also its international smartphone competitors are said to be releasing their own EVs. Apple is allegedly developing an automobile that might debut by 2026, according to long-running rumours. Additionally, the maker of the iPhone and Mac has hired several executives from other EV companies. This week, Gizmochina stated that Huawei, a Chinese smartphone manufacturer, would introduce the Huawei Luxeed, which will include HarmonyOS 4, as its “first pure electric sports sedan” this quarter. Also in 2021, 91Mobiles claimed that Oppo would introduce its first EV in India by 2024.

Although it won’t be a novel approach, Micromax will attempt to return to the Indian IT scene with a refreshed outlook. Many established two-wheeler manufacturers have entered the EV market. The company’s phone division has also had difficulties. With its Micromax In-series phones, Micromax attempted to reenter the phone industry. In the midst of the Indo-China border dispute, the corporation also tried to capitalise on anti-China sentiment. It hasn’t been able to make an impression, though. On the other hand, Lava, Micromax’s Indian rival, is steadily gaining ground while facing fierce competition from Chinese rivals like Xiaomi, Vivo, and Oppo.
