Day 8 was filled with some heartbreaks, with Manu Bhaker, Deepika Kumari and Nishant Dev falling agonizingly short of a medal glory at the Paris Olympics 2024. However, a new day is set to unfold with some action-packed contests on cards on day 9 of the Paris Games on August 4, Sunday. The Indian men’s hockey team will face Great Britain in the quarter-final clash. Lakshya Sen, India’s rising badminton star, is just one win away from assuring India a medal as he participates in the semi-final clash of the men’s singles. Meanwhile, Lovlina Borgohain will also be in action and will look to inch closer towards her second Olympic medal. It is expected to be a Super Sunday for the Indian fans as the Indian contingent will aim to higher up India’s medal tally of 3 so far. Apart from some high-ticket encounters, other Indian athletes will also be in action. Gaganjeet Bhullar and Shubhankar Sharma will be taking part in the round of the men’s individual strokeplay (golf). It will be day 2 of the women’s skeet qualification and the qualification round for the 25m men’s pistol event. The Indian athletes will look to impress in Long Jump, Steeplechase and Sailing as well. India’s rising star, Lakshya Sen, remained to be the country’s only hope for a medal in the badminton category. The 22-year-old has been impressive so far en route to the semi-final of the men’s singles event. However, he faces a stiff challenge against Danish great Victor Axelsen, who is also the former World No. 1. Lakshya Sen scripted history in Paris when he beat Chinese Taipei’s Chou Tien Chen to reach the semi-final of the competition.

Lovlina Borgohain is on the verge of scripting history, as she is just one win away from joining an elite list including PV Sindhu and Manu Bhaker. Borgohain did it in the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Could she do it again? However, she will face a tough test from China’s Li Qian, who is also the No. 1 seeded boxer. In fact, Lovlina Borgohain was at the receiving end of Li Qian’s prowess during the Asian Games final last year when she went down 5-0 to Li Qian and settled for a silver.
