A young Indian side will take on Zimbabwe in a five-match T20I series from July 6 to 14 at the Harare Sports Club. The T20 World Cup hangover is still on back home, but a Shubman Gill-led side will be keen on making a mark and proving their mettle in alien conditions. All eyes will be on the young bunch that has shown a lot of promise in the IPL 2024 season. For Shubman Gil, it’s a big opportunity as the young opener would want to stamp his authority before a new head coach, likely Gautam Gambhir, takes over after the end of the Zimbabwe tour. Gill failed to impress as captain of Gujarat Titans in the IPL and his performances did not warrant a place in the T20 World Cup side. The young opener will be keen on making a mark in his first opportunity to lead the senior team. VVS Laxman, the NCA director, has travelled with the team as head coach.
