India Records 1,300 New Covid-19 Cases, Highest in 140 Days

On Thursday, the Union Health Ministry reported that India has recorded 1,300 new cases of coronavirus, the highest in 140 days, bringing the total number of active cases to 7,605.

As of 8 am, the updated data shows that the death toll has risen to 5,30,816 with three reported deaths – one each in Karnataka, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.

The daily positivity rate was reported as 1.46%, and the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 1.08%.

The total number of Covid cases recorded in India is 4.46 crore (4,46,99,418).

The active cases currently make up 0.02% of the total infections, and the national COVID-19 recovery rate has been reported to be 98.79%, as per the Ministry’s statement.

To date, a total of 92.06 crore Covid detection tests have been conducted, with 89,078 tests being performed in the last 24 hours.

The number of individuals who have recovered from the disease has surged to 4,41,60,997, while the case fatality rate has been reported at 1.19%.

As per the Ministry’s website, the nationwide vaccination drive has administered 220.65 crore doses of Covid vaccine in the country so far.
