On Thursday, the Union Health Ministry updated its data and reported more than 700 new Covid-19 cases in a single day, the first time this has occurred in over four months. This has resulted in the active caseload increasing to 4,623.
The country had recorded 734 cases on November 12 last year.
The latest data update at 8 am reveals that the number of new coronavirus cases has continued its upward trend, with a total of 754 cases reported in the past 24 hours. Meanwhile, the death toll has risen to 5,30,790, with one new fatality reported in Karnataka.
The total tally of Covid cases reported so far has reached 4.46 crore (4,46,92,710).
As per the health ministry website, active cases now make up only 0.01% of the total Covid-19 infections, while the national recovery rate from Covid-19 has been recorded at 98.80%.
The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,41,57,297, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.19 per cent.
According to the ministry’s website, 220.64 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination drive.
