Another win by Indian hockey team: With their 3-2 victory against Korea on Monday in the Asian Champions Trophy 2023, India reclaimed first place. Now, India will anticipate their final match against Pakistan on August 9. The Indian squad, who had defeated Malaysia 5-0 the previous day, had recovered from their poor stalemate with Japan, and the host team got off to a strong start.

India entered the game first and moved from left to right in blue. Nilakanta Sharma scored the first goal early in the sixth minute, setting the stage for a competitive game. Sunghhyun Kim of Korea immediately rallied, however, by scoring an equaliser in the 12th minute. After a scoreless first quarter, Harmanpreet Singh’s goal in the 23rd minute gave the Indian team the lead once again.

In the 33rd minute of the second half, Mandeep Singh increased India’s lead to 3-1. When Harmanpreet was awarded a penalty shot, he had the opportunity to put the game beyond Korea’s reach. The Korean custodian, though, was able to stop the opportunity.

Korea was given several penalty corners, but they had trouble finding the goal. Jihun Yang, though, managed to score in the 58th minute, raising the score to 3-2 and setting up a suspenseful conclusion. India maintained their lead and won the game in a nail-biting fashion despite Korea’s best attempts, which included taking out their custodian in favour of an extra outfielder.

With this victory, India now leads the points standings. With this victory, India has now defeated Korea 36 times, greatly enhancing their advantage in head-to-head records.
