IIT student hangs himself by writing “I’m sorry, not good enough”, went to class before committing suicide

    A student of IIT Madras committed suicide by hanging himself. Police has registered the case and started investigation. Earlier, he had also posted a WhatsApp status.

    The body of a PhD student from IIT Madras was found hanging on Friday (March 31). The student has been identified as 32-year-old research scholar Sachin Kumar Jain. He had posted a status on WhatsApp before committing suicide. In it he wrote ‘I am sorry, not good enough’.

    Police said that Jain was a resident of West Bengal and had attended his regular classes in the mechanical engineering department of Guindy campus of IIT Madras even before committing suicide. After this he returned to his rented room without telling anyone.

    Student was found hanging in the dining hall

    Police said that when his friends came to know that he went missing after an hour, his friends tried to reach him. They went to his room where he was found hanged in the dining hall. Friends called an ambulance at the residence. The emergency team of the hospital declared him brought dead.

    Police is also questioning friends

    On getting information about the case, Velachery police reached the spot and sent his body for postmortem. Police has started the investigation of the matter.

    Police is also checking the status written by the student. His friends are also being questioned regarding his WhatsApp status. Friends told that when they saw this status, they got nervous and immediately left for his room.
