Inspector General of Registration (IGR), Jammu and Kashmir, conducted a comprehensive review of the working of the Registrar and Sub-Registrar Offices at the district headquarters today. During the visit, the IGR, along with the Registrar Doda, conducted an inspection of the office of the Sub-Registrar in Doda after inspecting the office of the Sub-Registrar in Assar.
A meeting was convened by the IGR with all Sub-Registrars in attendance at the office of the Registrar. The Sub-Registrars gave a detailed briefing on their work and transparency to the IGR and put forth some demands related to infrastructural gaps and technicalities for smooth functioning of their offices. The IGR gave on-the-spot directions for prompt redressal of all their demands. The IGR also inspected the office of Sub-Registrar Bhaderwah.
Initiatives that are in progress such as Aadhaar authentication service, home visit module and online delivery of copies of registered documents will help promote transparency in document registration. The registration department is working to replicate best practices and technologies from other states.
The issues discussed included booking slots, uploading documents, accepting stamp duty and registration fees, accepting documents and registering various instruments.
The IGR expressed satisfaction with functioning of Registrar and Sub-Registrar Offices and urged all Sub-Registrars to ensure prompt and transparent service delivery to citizens.
The IGR directed Registrar Doda to conduct regular inspections of Sub-Registrar Offices.
