Budgam March 06, 2025: In a significant public outreach initiative, Shri V K Birdi, IPS, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, along with Shri Rajiv Omprakash Pandey, IPS, Deputy Inspector General (DIGP) Central Kashmir Range (CKR), and Shri Nikhil Borkar, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Budgam, today visited the remote village of Surasyar – Brenwar. The visit was part of the ongoing “Thana Divas” program organized by Police Station Chadoora, Budgam.

Village Surasyar-Brenwar, located in a remote area of Chadoora. The area is mainly inhabitated by Gujjar, Bakarwal and Chopan communities. Locals participated in huge numbers in Thana Divas program. This is the first time that the Zonal head of J&K Police visited such a remotest village of the valley.

During the meeting, community members raised several important issues, including the need for the engagement of Special Police Officers (SPOs) from their area and the establishment of a new police post in the vicinity. They also raised other concerns related to civil administration and impacting their daily lives.

Addressing the gathering, IGP Kashmir, Shri V K Birdi assured the community members that their concerns would be addressed without delays. He highlighted that land has already been identified for the construction of the Police Post Surasyar, which will be operational at the earliest. He also emphasized the importance of community involvement in the fight against drug-related issues and encouraged the people to take advantage of the Victim-Centric approach under the New Criminal Laws.

Thana Divas program concluded with a vote of thanks from SSP Budgam. He expressed gratitude to the community members for their active participation in program and cooperation for strengthening police public relations. Locals praised the efforts of Senior officers of J&K Police to visit such remote areas to address their genuine grievances.
