The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced its Player of the Month nominees for August, but no Indian players made the cut in either the men’s or women’s categories. In the men’s category, South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj, West Indies’ Jayden Seales, and Sri Lanka’s Dunith Wellalage were nominated. The women’s category saw Sri Lanka’s Harshitha Samarawickrama and Ireland’s Gaby Lewis and Orla Prendergast as the nominees.
Dunith Wellalage’s nomination follows his remarkable performance against India in the ODI series, where he scored 108 runs and took seven wickets, including crucial dismissals of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, along with a career-best 5/27 in the third ODI.
Despite India’s strong cricketing presence, their absence from the ICC’s monthly honors has drawn attention, especially with standout performances from players like Wellalage making headlines.
