Shubman Gill may be setting the stage on fire in Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) but he has been rewarded for his consistent showing in ODI cricket in the latest ICC ODI Rankings, updated on Wednesday, April 5. Gill moved to his career-best position of No. 4 on the latest batting charts. Gill has 738 points, only 2 fewer than No. 3 Imam-ul-Haq of Pakistan.
Shubman Gill’s rise coincides with Quinton de Kock’s fall from No. 4 to No. 7 in the batting charts. The South African star’s slip also ensured Virat Kohli jumped a spot to No. 6.

Gill managed just 57 runs in 3 ODIs against Australia in India’s 2-1 defeat at home in March. However, the star batter was in regal form in the 50-over format of the game, scoring as many as 3 hundreds in the calendar year. Kohli, on the other hand, Kohli has scored 427 runs, including 2 hundreds and a fifty in ODIs in the ongoing year.

India have 3 batters in the top 10 as captain Rohit Sharma also retained his spot at No. 8.

In the bowling charts, Mohammed Siraj retained his third spot while New Zealand’s Trent Boult closed in on the gap over No. 1-ranked Pat Cummins of Australia.

Markram gained 13 spots to reach 41st position in the batting rankings and 16 places to 32nd in the all-rounders’ list, another career-best feat in each as South Africa beat the Dutch 2-0 in their three-match series in Johannesburg. They edged closer to automatic qualification for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in India later this year.
