I&C department, DPIIT conducts ‘Workshop cum Capacity Building Programme’

The Department of Industries and Commerce in conjunction with Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade (DPIIT), GoI, today conducted one day ‘Workshop cum Capacity Building Programme’ for effective implementation of ‘New Central Sector Scheme [NCSS], 2021 in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir at Udyog Bhawan, Rail Head Complex, here.
In the morning session, R K Singh, Joint Secretary, DPIIT and Dr. Kajal, Director, DPIIT along with team from DPIIT, Union Ministry of Commerce & Industry, E&Y, addressed officers of Directorate of Industries and Commerce and District Industries Centres of Jammu division on ‘New Central Sector Scheme [NCSS], 2021.
Anoo Malhotra, Director General, Industries and Commerce, Jammu, gave a detailed presentation on the industrial ecosystem of J&K and shared the progress made in registrations and claims in respect of Jammu division.
The officers from DPIIT appreciated the progress made by the UT tea and emphasized that J&K needs to play a proactive role for attracting investments and making the New Sector Scheme for Industrial Development of J&K a big success.
Director General also highlighted the challenges that need to be addressed in respect of IDS-2017, NCSS portal for registration of units, Working Capital Interest Subvention, Term Loan Interest Subvention, Capital Investment Incentive and GST linked incentives claim application forms and subsequent uploading of documents.
The officers from DPIIT assured to resolve the issues and requested the Industries & Commerce Department to activate their field teams and conduct interactions with the entrepreneurs. They also asked the department to identify specific sectors and set targets for New Central Sector Scheme for its effective implementation
In the afternoon session, the team held a thorough interaction with various entrepreneurs and representatives of various Industrial Associations of Jammu division.
The DPIIT team apprised the association members of various financial and tax benefits under the New Central Sector Scheme to attract new investment in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir, both in manufacturing and service sectors. The team also explained various features of NCSS portal, clearing their doubts about various aspects of the scheme.
The representatives of various Industrial associations highlighted the outstanding points in the earlier IDS – 2017 as well as the registrations under the new NCSS policy. The delegates of various Industrial Associations also put forth their suggestions for further improvement in the scheme and streamlining ease of doing business in the UT.
R.K. Singh, Dr. Kajal, assured full cooperation in implementation of their projects and availing various incentives being extended by the State / Central Government. They also highlighted that the Government has taken keen view for the sustainability of the existing enterprises and inviting new investments in the UT of Jammu & Kashmir as well.
Representatives of Industrial Associations of Jammu division welcomed efforts of both Central and UT governments in supporting industrialisation of J&K.
