As part of ‘Prashasan Gaon ki Aur’ initiative, the Department of Horticulture, Planning, and Marketing, Ramban today established a farmers’ Mandi at the take-up point of Phelti road in Maitra Panchayat of block Ramban to facilitate the farmers and people to buy fresh fruits and vegetables on affordable rates.
The members of the Young Farmers Cooperative Society sold their fruits and vegetables at the Mandi soon after its establishment.
District Development Commissioner, Mussarat Islam, during his visit to the newly created facility, congratulated the Area Marketing Officer Sunil Bakshi for establishing the Mandi to facilitate the farmers to sell agricultural produces. He urged the general public of Ramban to avail the benefit of Mandi in which fruit and vegetables are available at wholesale rates.
The DC urged the farmers to sell their agro-based produce at the Mandi to take benefit from the initiative of the department.
Highlighting the importance of the facility, the AMO said that all kinds of fruit and vegetable trade will be conducted in the Mandi which will help to develop the horticulture sector in the district. He assured full support from the department to farmers for the smooth functioning of the Mandi.
