Hon’ble Lt Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) attends grand finale of Youth Festival

The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), along with First Lady, Smt Neelam Mishra, attended the grand finale of the Youth Festival organised by University of Ladakh in collaboration with Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre (LSRC), at the NDS Ground.

HLG expressed his happiness to see University of Ladakh, which is the Centre of Education in Ladakh, organising an impressive youth festival to encourage the talent of the Ladakhi youth studying in different colleges of Ladakh. He also expressed his happiness to see nationalism, patriotism and passion to work for the development of the country among the younger generation.

HLG emphasised the need for the younger generation to abide by the Fundamental Duties as mentioned in the Indian Constitution. He stated that it is always imperative for our youth to abide by the Fundamental Duties if India has to develop into a Vishwa Guru. He emphasised the important role of youth in achieving the target of making India the number one in the world by 2047 as envisioned by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi ji. HLG stated that the youth should be passionate about taking India to the pinnacle in their hearts and minds.

Commending Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre for their bravery and sacrifices for the country’s unity, integrity and sovereignty. He informed that the UT Administration would increase the ex-gratia provided to the next of kin of the martyrs of LSRC from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 25 lakhs. Stating that sacrificing one’s life is ultimate no matter where, HLG also informed that even the family members of Ladakhi soldiers, who sacrifice their lives while serving the country in some other part of India, would be entitled to the ex-gratia.

HLG advised the Ladakhi youth to join Ladakh Scouts to serve the country and also to show their patriotism and nationalism towards the nation. He also appealed to the Ladakhi youth to believe and abide by Unity and Discipline; stay away from drugs to secure their future; work to protect the fragile environment of Ladakh so that we could leave the world in a better condition for posterity.

HLG also sought cooperation from all the citizens of Ladakh, particularly the youth, to achieve the goal of a ‘Corruption and Delay-Free’ Ladakh.

Dachen Chuskit, a student of Govt Degree College, Kargil, gave a solo song performance during the event. Earlier, Vice-Chancellor, UoL, Prof SK Mehta, welcomed the guests.

Member of Parliament from Ladakh, Shri Jamyang Tsering Namgyal; GOC, 14 Corps, Lt Gen Rashim Bali; Group Commander, NCC Group Srinagar, Brigadier KS Kalsi; Commanding Officer, LSRC, Col RS Parihar; Vice-Chancellor, UoL, Prof SK Mehta; Secretary, Youth Services and Sports, Shri Ravinder Kumar; officials from Army and Paramilitary Forces, Ladakh Police and students from all constituent colleges and University of Ladakh were present during the grand finale of the Youth Festival.
