With another youth dying reportedly due to drug overdose in the town, this is the sixth such death in Hisar town since last August. The police said the youth, who was found dead in the bushes near Vikas Nagar in the town, was a drug addict.
Padao police chowki in-charge Ram Mehar said the police found the body on Saturday. Later, he was identified as Vishal, a resident of Satrod Khurd. The body was handed over to the family after the post-mortem examination, while the viscera was sent to the forensic science laboratory in Madhuban for further investigation, the chowki incharge said.
Ram Mehar said the father of the victim told him that he was a drug addict for nearly 10 years. He was in jail in connection with a theft case and had come out on bail 10 days ago, the police official said. Sources said both hands of the victims had marks of needles.
The sources said tramadol tablets were being used by the drug addicts. They dissolved the tablet in water and then injected it through their veins. The doctors said the injection could prove deadly as some addicts in Hisar had died injecting the drug. A Hisar Civil Hospital official detected that forged prescriptions of tramadol tablets, which was not prescribed by the doctor concerned at the Civil Hospital, was being used to procure these tablets.
A former MC member, Rajpal Mandu from the Satrod area in the town, said the drug addiction among youth had been growing in many parts of the town. “There are some localities where drugs are easily available. The police, along with residents, should launch a special drive to check drug peddling,” he said.
