District administration Kupwara evacuated 5 patients including three minors and their attendants from snow-bound Karnah Sub Division to Kupwara on Friday. The patients needed advanced treatment, following which a helicopter service was arranged by the district administration.
A total of ten passengers who were stranded in Kupwara due to blockade of Chowkibal – Karnah road were also airlifted from District Police Lines (DPL), Kupwara in subsidised helicopter service.
The Chowkibal – Karnah road remained closed for three consecutive days due to which people, especially patients were subjected to severe hardships and the helicopter service came as major relief for them, said locals and district administration.
