Heavy rain pounds Delhi-NCR, causes waterlogging, traffic disruptions

Heavy rain lashed several parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) on Saturday morning, bringing down the temperature to 25 degrees Celsius. Downpours, accompanied with thunderstorms and lightning caused severe waterlogging and traffic disruptions in several areas

“Light/moderate fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi on July 28-29,” the IMD predicted.

On Friday, parts of Delhi received light to moderate rainfall, with the maximum temperature in the city settling at 34.3 degrees Celsius, one notch below normal, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

The minimum temperature was recorded at 26.6 degrees Celsius. The weather department, on Friday, predicted light to moderate rainfall for Saturday.

On Friday, Civil Lines, Laxmi Nagar and Lajpat Nagar received rainfall and parts of the city, including Jasola and Okhla, saw overcast skies.
